Reagan Settje and Anthony Bruhn Named March “Students of the Month”

As students finish off the third quarter, it is time to not only celebrate all the second semester achievements, but also another two winners of Student of the Month. This month's winners were Reagan Settje and Anthony Bruhn!

Both winners chose a homework pass as their award.

Reagan is a freshman at Leigh High School and the daughter of Kristi and Chad Settje. This is the second time Reagan has received the award.  Reagan participates in band, One-Act, FCCLA, volleyball, basketball, track, dance, and journalism.

Reagan’s favorite subject is Family and Consumer Science. When not busy with all of her school activities, she enjoys swimming and playing volleyball. Reagan is unsure of what she wants to do after she graduates.

“Earning this reward is an honor,” Reagan said. “It is great to know my teachers notice everything I do.”

Here’s what Reagan’s teachers had to say about her:

--“Reagan is a leader in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. She is very smart, works hard in all she does, asks questions, and wants to succeed. She is also very kind and always willing to help others when they need it.”

--“She is a very organized and hard-working student. She always puts her best effort into the task at hand. She is involved in a variety of activities and does a great job managing her time between those activities and academics.”

“Reagan is a joy to have in class. She’s intelligent, diligent in her work, and also fun to be around. Her honesty is appreciated and valued when she doesn’t understand something because she is one of the brave ones to speak for the entire class.”

“Reagan is truly wonderful to have in class. She is very smart, hard-working and positive. She is also very coachable in athletics and works hard to be her best.”

Anthony Bruhn is a junior at Leigh High School and the son of Randy and Joani Bruhn. Anthony participates in football, basketball, track, choir, One-Act, and FFA.

Although he enjoys all his classes, Anthony’s favorite subject is social studies. When not busy with his extracurricular activities, he enjoys playing basketball. He is currently undecided on his plans after high school.

When asked how he felt about receiving this award, Anthony laughed and said, “Well, I finally proved my mom wrong.”

Here’s what his teachers had to say about him:

“Anthony has an outgoing personality and great sense of humor. He wants to do well in all his classes, and is pleasant to have in class. He is a leader in athletics, and is involved in nearly every extracurricular activity. He has also made great strides this quarter in the reading challenge. I am surprised he has not won the award before.”

“Anthony is a fun, high-energy student who is always willing to give a friendly hello.”

“Tony is a great kid who has really matured this year. I see him making great strides in wanting to get the most out of his education and trying his best to achieve. He does this while being a leader in other activities as well.”

“Anthony is an outstanding young man who has come a long way in academics and athletics. He is helpful, friendly and very hard working. His positive energy is very much appreciated around the school.”
