JV Volleyball Undefeated at Wisner-Pilger Tourney
The annual Wisner-Pilger JV volleyball tournament was held on Saturday, September 9. Clarkson-Leigh had two teams competing, the JV and C team. 16 total teams competed in the round-robin pool play tournament.
18 girls attended along with Coach Wietfeld and Coach Heimann.
Coach Heimann thought the day was a success for all levels:
“I thought the girls made great strides on Saturday as a team. I thought our intensity increased not only from those on the floor, but the bench as well. That is important because then everyone just feeds off of one another, and it makes then very fun to watch.”
The JV team went undefeated on the day, and the C team went 1-2.
The JV team started off the day knocking off Allen. Their second game was against Homer, and they again came out with a win.
Their JV’s final game was against Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur, who they had just lost to earlier in the week. This time, they came out ready to play, and won in two sets!
The C team beat Madison in their opening match. Next, they lost in 2 sets to Wisner-Pilger. Finally, they finished the day with a nailbiter against Guardian Angels Central Catholic. Unfortunately, they lost in 3 sets.
Reagan Settje, a sophomore at Leigh, said, “ The tournament went great. I feel like we did a lot of good things, but there is still plenty to work on. We played really good as a team and were able to leave with some wins on both levels.
