Alex Fischer and Bianca Aguirre Named October “Students of the Month”

As the year is progressing, so have our students at Leigh. There were many kids nominated by their teachers for October’s “Student of the Month.” With a tight vote, and a five-way tie, juniors Alex Fischer and Bianca Aguirre won the vote.

Alex is a junior at Leigh High School, and his parents are Eric and Misty Fischer. Alex participates in wrestling, FFA, and band.  His favorite subject in school is weights and PE.   His favorite hobbies outside of school are running and fishing.

After graduation, Alex plans to join the military.

“It feels good to be noticed for being kind to others and helping out fellow students when they need it,” Alex said.

Here is what Alex’s teachers had to say about him:

"Alex has shown tremendous growth and improvement. He cares a lot more about his behavior and academic performance than he has in the past. He has come a long way."

"Alex has shown a great deal of leadership in the class. He has taken it upon himself to mentor and help the underclassmen. He is a tremendous asset to have in class."

Our second student of the month is Bianca Aguirre. Bianca is also a junior at Leigh, and is the daughter of Joe and the late Cristina Aguirre. Bianca participates in One Act and choir. She enjoys playing with her cats in her free time. Her favorite subject in school is business.  After high school, Bianca plans to attend college to become a vet tech.

“It is really nice to receive this award because I think I have improved over the years and have matured more. I think that for anyone, a good attitude can get you far,” said Bianca.

Here is what Bianca’s teachers had to say about her:

"Bianca always has a great attitude in class and a wonderful work ethic.  She is efficient when it comes to work time and she has showcased her creativity using iMovie on a recent project.  It is fun to see her come out of her shell and be a leader."

"Bianca continues to show tremendous improvement in class, her effort and attitude have made huge strides and the results have been obvious."

Congrats to Alex Fischer and Bianca Aguirre!
