Senior Spotlight: Luis Aguirre

Joe Aguirre and the late Christina Aguirre were blessed with their second child on December 29, 1999: Luis Daniel Aguirre.

Luis has has an older brother, Mark, 19, who graduated from Leigh last year.

He also has a younger sister, Bianca, 17, who is a junior at Leigh, and a younger brother, Jose, age 15, who is a freshman.

To complete their family, the Aguirre’s have a chihuahua named Princess.

The Aguirre family moved to Leigh from Pharr, Texas when Luis was in seventh-grade.

Throughout Luis’s high school career, he has been involved in choir for three years, One-Act for four years, and bowling for one year.

Luis has received honors for having Perfect Attendance every year of school and for being part of the state championship One-Act teams.

Luis says his proudest high school moment will come at graduation next month.  One of his most embarrassing moments was when he was locked in the bathroom for half a class period and couldn’t get out.

To get to know Luis a bit more, he describes himself as funny, witty, and techy. He says his worst bad habit is talking a lot.  His favorite subject in school is Tech Apps. His favorite movie is “Baby Driver.” His favorite song is “Forever Young” by Lil Yachty. His favorite sports team is the Browns, and his favorite restaurant is Burger King.

Three goals on Luis’s bucket list are to skydive, to visit NYC on New Year’s Eve, and to climb Mount Everest. If he could go anywhere in the world, he would go to Paris, France to see the Eiffel Tower.

When asked who he admires most, he said his father.

“He puts up with my siblings and I. He is my Superman because he believes I can do great things in this world,” Luis said.

After high school, Luis intends to major in Mechatronics at Central Community College.

In 10-15 years, Luis sees himself with a family, or at least a girlfriend, and a good job. If he would be fortunate enough to win the lottery, he would “move his dad out of Nebraska because he hates the cold weather.”

Luis’s inspirational advice to underclassmen is short and sweet: “Just gotta send it!”

Good luck Luis!
