Cyclone Softball Defeats Pierce, Loses to BC
As the softball season kicked off, the Highway 91 Cyclones headed to Albion for their fourth game of the season against the Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals on August 20.
In the JV/Varsity match-up, JV began the evening with a win against the Cardinals 10-2. The Varsity game followed, and after 7 innings the Cyclones came off the field with a loss of 3-4.
“I am proud of how we played and battled until the end,” Coach Adam Indra said. “The score of the game just doesn’t show how much effort the girls put into this game.”
The next day, on August 21, the Cyclones had their first home game of the season in Leigh.
Both JV and Varsity defeated the Pierce Bluejays. The final score of the Varsity game was 8-7.
“I was content with the way the team really came together to get the outs and the runs we needed to be successful. Overall I was happy with the way we stayed positive when things didn’t go the way we wanted them to,” Kyleigh Rayback, sophomore said about the win.
The Cyclones’ record is 2-3 after these games.
