Patriots Fall to Undefeated HLHF Team in Triangular
The Patriots tacked on one point after another to the High Plains Storm on September 13 in a triangular match-up in Polk against High Plains and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
But as well as the game against High Plains went, the game against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family went equally bad.
The Patriots entered the contests with just one loss.
They took on High Plains first. The Patriots seemed to win almost effortlessly, capturing the first set 25-10 and the second 25-8.
But after such an error-free game against the Storm, the Patriots looked flat and hesitant against the undefeated Bulldogs. Wayne State College recruit Taya Beller from Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family was too much for the Patriot defense to handle.
The stunned Patriots lost the first set 13-25. The second set was closer, but the Patriots couldn’t pull out a win, losing 21-25.
“Going up against High Plains, I thought we looked good!” Head Coach Rebecca Schneider said. “Our passing was spot-on, we had a great flow and smooth movements from transitioning to attacking.
“The HLHF game was not our best,” Schneider continued. “We came out tipping and and continued to tip throughout the game, and we know tipping does not win games. We knew they were good, and we have seen Beller before, however, but their record is no excuse for not going out there and giving it our best shot by being aggressive on offense. We will see them again, so we're going to grind it out so the outcome will be better!”
