Ready.. Set.. Show!

Clarkson-Leigh FFA Students Show at State Fair

Sophomore Riana Grotelueschen is pictured with her market lamb at the 2018 Nebraska State Fair. She was one of seven Clarkson-Leigh FFA members who showed livestock at the State Fair this year. Congratulations to all FFA members who represented the chapter at the State Fair!

As summer ended, students with animals were beginning to forget about the Colfax County Fair. They forgot the look, the smell, and maybe even the show. Most of them packed up their show business until next summer.

But this wasn’t the case for some Clarkson-Leigh FFA students. Over Labor Day weekend, multiple FFA students took their livestock down to the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island to be a part of the fair atmosphere one last time this year!

As the last day of the Nebraska State Fair ended on September 2nd, all of the FFA members were very proud of their awards that they earned.

Senior, Daniel Beller, showed well and received Reserve Grand Champion with his Charolais Composite Breeding Heifer.

Junior, Carson Ahrens, earned first red with his crossbred market hog. He also received a blue in showmanship.

Sophomore, Riana Groteluschen, received a purple in sheep showmanship. She also received 10th purple with her market lamb and a blue ribbon with her breeding ewe.

Freshmen, Brock Marxsen, also showed sheep. He did very well and earned Reserve Grand Champion in sheep showmanship. He also placed 4th in the FFA Cross Class.

Junior, Sawyer Kappel, received a blue in showmanship with his breeding heifer.

Haden Held and Jacob Gall also showed at the State Fair through FFA, even though they have already graduated. Jacob Gall received purples with his steers and Haden Held earned fifth with his steer and fourth with his heifer.

Congratulations to all Clarkson-Leigh FFA members on their awards and for making their chapter proud!
