Patriot Jr. High Football Starts Year Off Right

The Clarkson-Leigh Jr. High Patriot football team has gotten a good start to their season by winning their first two games.

To start the year off, the Patriots played a home game in Leigh against the Madison Dragons on September 4th. The Patriots came out with a victory, winning 48-6 to start the year undefeated. After a bye week the Patriots were back on September 16th in Cedar Bluffs. The Patriots got another win, beating Cedar Bluffs/Mead 50-22 and extending their record to 2-0.

When asked what things he thought the football team needed to improve on, coach Jay Knaak said, “The first team looks really good. We need to develop some depth at all positions and cleanup a few things on special. I think we can really excel if we can fix that.”

Eighth-grader Mason Whitmore from Leigh said, “I expect the team to go 110% and never quit in any game. We have done a really good job this year and we are finally coming along to be the undefeated team we want to be.”

The team sits 2-0 going into the rest of the season.
