Tech Tips

Shout Outs This Week:

Mr. V’s 7th Grade Class acting out scenes from the book “Outsiders” and then editing their videos on iMovie using the green screen.

6th Graders using Makey Makeys in Tech Class.  They created circuits hooked up to pennies, clay, straws, etc. to control bongos, a piano, Pacman, Mario, Tetris, & a voice machine.

Abby’s Tech Apps Class attended the Schuyler Tech Day.  Students listened to Craig Badura on the topic of Unplugging and Digital Citizenship.  They participated with Schuyler High School & Twin River Students and listened to Schuyler teachers presenting on tech tools.  Leigh High students won the Goose Chase Competition during the Tech/College Fair. Alex won a charger! What a fun day! Thanks Schuyler Schools for including us on this educational day!!

Upcoming Events:

NEW TECH TOOLS:  These tech tools are located in the elementary.  They help students code and be problem solvers. They can be used in all content areas and in grades K-12.  I have many ideas on how to use these learning tools so please ask. In the high school there are also Cue Robots, an Ollie, & a 3D Printer. Remember there are also Portable Green and Blue Screens. Everyone have fun and I will gladly show you their capabilities.

Elementary Classrooms:  There are STEM bins located in the Computer Lab for you to check out that will allow students to create through problem solving.

Tech Tip #1:  Goose Chase App: “Scavenger Hunts for the Masses”  Students do a Scavenger Hunt of your choice and then as they accomplish the task they receive points.

Tech Tip #2:  Stop Motion App:  This app allows students to take pictures and easily make them into a video.  Stop motion is “giving animated figures the impression of movement”.

Tech Tip #3:  Merge Cube:  There is a 3D Abe Lincoln, Pick a story app, build a house, planets, human body, etc.  Please ask about the Merge Cubes because they are VR at their finest. I would have enough for your whole class and they can do this on their phones.

Tech Tip #4:  HP Reveal: https://www.hpreveal.com/  While Abby and I were at Schuyler High School an English teacher showed us this app and it made a cube figure when scanned lead to a video.  This would be neat for our Patriot Cup and Elementary Teams.

Inspirational Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHdF8El1dQg  Mike Smith runs “The Harbor”  He is from Nebraska and speaks all over the country about changing the world. He wrote the book “Legacy vs. Likes”.

Let’s Light a Fire of Creativity in our Students!!  Everyone is doing an EXCELLENT Job!!
