FBLA Attends Fall Leadership Conference

Eager versus willing. What’s the difference? As Bill Cordes put it, “Eager is getting to do it, and willing is having to do it, which is most definitely a decision.”

On Wednesday, September 26th the Clarkson-Leigh FBLA officers and leaders went to the 2018 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Omaha.

The day started with listening to keynote speaker Bill Cordes. Also known as the “YOGOWYPI Guy.” YOGOWYPI means You Only Get Out What You Put In, and he taught us about getting the most out of our lives, what happens when you change the “s” to a “d” and the “i” to an “a” in responsibility, and also how to shake off mistakes without shame, blame, freak out, denial, or quitting.

The rest of the day included smaller sessions full of different information. First, the club officers met with their same state officers to learn about how to better their club and involvement in the community.

The second session was a variety of meetings, which consisted of anything from healthcare to how to get a job. Finally, the officers attended sessions focusing on ribbon projects, which help our club get recognized for their activities and involvement in the community.

Before heading home, we ate, participated in an activity, and talked about our goals that we want to accomplish this year. Overall, the day was a huge success and was lots of fun.

Halee Steffensmeier, FBLA’s co-reporter said, “It was really fun listening to the different speakers, and I think we all learned a little bit more about our offices and even life!”
