Patriot Football Keeps the Winning Streak Alive

The Patriot football team traveled to Bennington on September 28th to face the Omaha Christian Academy Eagles. The Patriots were sitting 2-2 on the season and were looking to add to their 2-game winning streak.

 

The Patriot offense was able to put up a quick 36 points in the first quarter, followed by another 24 in the second quarter. The defense also held strong keeping the Eagles out of the endzone. The Patriots lead at half with a score of 60-0. The third quarter brought one touchdown for the Eagles. The Eagles were also able to punch one in during the fourth quarter, but so did the Patriots. The Patriots took the victory with final score of 66-14. The Patriots were now 3-2 in the season and were excited to take on Cedar Bluffs at home the next week.

 

Friday, October 5th brought a large crowd to the football field in Leigh. Homecoming celebrations were in full swing as the Patriots faced the Cedar Bluffs Wildcats. The Patriots were able to put up a quick 16 points in the first quarter, and another 28 in the second quarter.

 

The Patriots kept the Wildcats out of the end zone. The second half brought 16 more points for the Patriots in the third quarter, and another 6 points in the fourth. The Patriots were once again able to keep the Wildcats out of the end zone and finished the game with a 66-0 victory. This left the Patriots with a 4-2 record in regular season, and a 3-0 record in district play.

 

“This year of football has been a lot of fun,” sophomore Trevor Zulkoski said.  “It’s good to be back on the winning side of things, and I hope we can keep our winning streak alive and get another win this week.”

 

Assistant Coach Jeff Bachman said, “We’ve really begun to play well the last couple weeks.  The team is working hard, and the results are showing on the field. It will be fun to see how good we can be down the stretch.”
