16 Clarkson-Leigh Choir Members Qualify for Honor Choir
A One, a two, a one, two, three, four…. It’s that time of year again. The East Husker Conference Honor Choir Performance was a hit yet again this year.
Students from 16 different conference schools participated, and Clarkson-Leigh was proud to be one of them. The total number of students that participated soared to over 200 students with 32 of them being selected for the Elite Honor Choir.
This year on November 5th, the Honor Choir Clinic was held in Oakland at Oakland-Craig High School.
This year the Clarkson-Leigh choir is made up of 38 students. 31 of those 38 students auditioned, and 16 were accepted.
Sopranoes include Bianca Aguirre, Halee Steffensmeier, Meranda Kudrna, Abbi Brabec, Alicia Holmberg, and Shyla Shaw. Alternate is Makenna Held.
Altos include Meranda Kudrna, Natalie Reeves, Lexi Schroeder, and Rylee Olson.
Tenors include Logan Schroeder and Kanyon Held.
Basses selected from Clarkson-Leigh were Sawyer-Kappel, Mitch Beeson, Audie Tejkl, and Darian Ober-Brown.
Halee Steffensmeier and Alicia Holmberg were chosen to the Elite Choir, and Rylee Olson was an alternate.
Clarkson-Leigh choir director, Cindy Settje, said, “I am very excited about the choir this year. I especially appreciate the effort the students gave in auditioning for the East Husker Honor Choir. We have a fairly young choir, so I was very pleased that so many tried out without being coaxed too much from me.”
Clarkson Senior, Halee Steffensmeier, said, “The Conference Honor Choir was really fun and we all got the chance to meet a ton of great people I’m glad I got the opportunity to sing with such an amazing group.”
