Leigh Wins District One-Act!

Eight Leigh cast members line up to be recognized for earning "Outstanding Actor/Actress" recognition at the district competition (L to R): Audie Tejkl, Cort Pokorney, Reagan Settje, Cameron Miller, Holly Kuhr, Kaegan Held, Reagan Settje, Carson Ahrens.

Six teams had the privilege of coming to Leigh High School to perform their One-Act plays on November 28 for the district D2-2 One-Act Play Production competition.   

 

It was an exciting, fun-filled day full of different types of plays, but at the end of the day, Leigh took home 1st place with their play Phantom of the Playground.  This advances them to the state competition for the fifth straight year!

 

Winside, Newman Grove, Hampton, Clarkson, Lyons-Decatur, and Leigh were the teams competing.  Lyons-Decatur finished second, and Winside finished third.

 

Several Leigh students earned Outstanding Actor and Actress Recognition, including Kaegan Held, Cameron Miller, Cort Pokorney, Holly Kuhr, Logan Becher, Audie Tejkl, Reagan Settje, and Carson Ahrens.

 

Reagan Settje, a Junior at Leigh High School said, “It feels great to make it back to state again this year. We worked really hard to get where we are and can’t wait until state.”

 

Megan Hillen, Assistant One Act coach for Leigh High School said,” We are very proud of all the time and hard work that the members of the One-Act have put in this season. Some of them have had to step outside of their comfort zone and they have done a fantastic job. We look forward to performing in Norfolk at State!”

 

They will be moving on to state to perform in Norfolk at the Johnny Carson theater, on December 5.
