Alissa Kasik and Zoey Van Dyke are Named December “Students of the Month”
Before the big Christmas celebration arrives, we must make time to celebrate two amazing Leigh High School students who have been named “Student of the Month.”
Alissa Kasik and Zoey Van Dyke have been dubbed the Christmas winners this year, and I think we would all agree that they’re both very deserving.
Alissa Kasik is a sophomore and is the daughter of Joe and Heather Kasik of Leigh. She’s the granddaughter of Fred and Alice Krenk of Schuyler and Lawrence and Marilyn Kasik of Columbus.
Alissa participates in volleyball, basketball, track, FFA, FBLA, journalism, yearbook, choir, and band. Her favorite classes are ag and English. Alissa enjoys being active in sports and spending time with family and friends.
And when asked what she thought of being recognized, she said, “I feel very honored to receive this award. This was my first time receiving this honor, and it makes me feel good knowing my teachers are taking note of all the good things that I’ve done.”
This is what Alissa’s teachers said about her:
Alissa is so hard working in everything she does, whether it’s in the classroom, sports, or other extracurriculars. She never complains and is extremely polite. She excels in the classroom and all her activities. She is also just a very genuine, kind person who is very focused on achieving her goals.
Zoey Van Dyke is the other equally deserving winner this December. Zoey’s parents are Gina and Casey Van Dyke, and her grandparents are Amy and Glen Van Dyke of Norfolk and Dave and Judy Olmer of Leigh.
Zoey’s favorite subjects are social studies and business, and her hobbies include reading and writing. “I’m really honored to receive this award and to be recognized for my hard work in and out of school,” said the eighth grader.
This is what Zoey’s teacher had to say:
Zoey is a top student who’s always reading and helping others out. She’s a very kind, hard-working, and polite young lady. She works very hard on her academics and truly wants to succeed at everything she does.
And as it’s been proven time and time again during this holiday season, there’s always more happiness and goodwill to come, and here at Leigh High School, we can’t wait to see what great things the new year brings.
