GBB Crushes David City

Senior Kaegan Held drives to the hoop against a David City defender.

The Patriot girls’ basketball team played the David City Scouts on December 11 at home. This was a girls’ only game.

The JV girls started the night out strong with a win 56-26.

Next up, the varsity came out ready to roll.  They made quick work of the Scouts. After leading 42-12 at halftime, they put the game away in the second half, with the score ending 64-23.

"The girls came out with energy and focus and played a great game. We jumped on them out of the gates with our pressure, forcing turnovers and getting us to the hoop for baskets. It was great to see us play with the focus we had and compete for 32 minutes,” Coach Matt Murren said.

Senior Hannah Kasik was the leading scorer in the game with 19 points, while fellow senior Keagan Held scored 15.  Kasik also grabbed 10 rebounds. Junior Ashlynn Novotny was set her teammates up for success with 6 assists and a whopping 8 steals.

This brings the Patriot girls’ record to 4-1.
