FFA Chapter Attends District Leadership Conference
Natalie Reeves Advances to State in Cooperative Speaking!
Launch the media gallery 1 playerSince the start of the school year, the Leigh-Clarkson FFA members, with the help of advisor Brandy Held, have been working hard practicing their events for the upcoming District Leadership Conference.
The event was rescheduled from Monday, December 3, to Monday, December 10, due to weather. On the 10th, the FFA members attending left school at 12:45 to arrive at the Lakeview High School before it started at 1:30 pm.
The Leigh-Clarkson chapter competed in District 2, which is comprised of 15 chapters. The Leigh-Clarkson chapter competed against Wahoo Bishop Neumann, Cross County, Ashland-Greenwood, East Butler, David City, Howells-Dodge, Humphrey, Lakeview, Newman Grove, Osceola, Schuyler, Shelby-Rising City, and Waverly.
The events that competed for the Leigh-Clarkson chapter included two Conduct of Chapter Meeting teams, one Senior Parliamentary Procedure team, Agricultural Demonstration, Creed Speaking, Public Speaking, Cooperative Speaking, and Job Interview.
Leigh-Clarkson placed in three events. Freshman Kanyon Held placed third in Creed Speaking, senior Holly Kuhr placed third in Job Interview, and junior Natalie Reeves placed second in Cooperative Speaking.
With her second-place finish, Natalie Reeves advances to the State Competition held in Lincoln in the spring!
“As a chapter, we all competed really well,” Reeves said. “It’s rewarding at the end to see all your hard work and practice time pay off. I’m excited to represent our chapter at state!”
