Jr. High BBB Undefeated in First Two Games
The junior high boys’ basketball season is off with a bang. The team of 21 boys have won both of the A team games they’ve played. The B team has lost both games they have played.
There are 11 boys out from Leigh this year. The eighth graders are: Mason Whitmore, Jackson Mullenhoff, Kyle Holmberg, Kyle Kasik, Dalton Zulkoski, Dylan Brabec, Elijah Tipton, and Roque Tejeda. The seventh-grade players are: Dylan Higby, Jordan Noonan, and Max Muhle. The team is coached by Andrew Faltys, Seth Cash, and Jeff Bachman.
For their first game on Thursday, January 10th, the teams faced off against Shelby-Rising City. The A team won 46-19. Kyle Holmberg was the top scorer for the A game with 14 points.
The B team lost 2-10 in a two-quarter game. The B-team top scorers were Ryan Brichacek and Joey Steffensmeier, both with 1 point.
8th grader Kyle Holmberg said, “It is good to get a win to start off the year. We know there are many areas to improve with some tough competition coming up in the next couple weeks.”
On Saturday January 12th, the boys faced off against Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family. The A team won 47- 38. Holmberg was the top scorer for the A team with 15 points.
The B team lost 11- 26. The top scorer for the B game was Trey Steffensmeier with 5 points.
Coach Jeff Bachman said, “It was fun to see the junior high boys get the chance to play their first games. I was very pleased how they looked and am excited for a fun season."
