Patriot Girls Crush the Tigers

It was an exciting battle between the girls Clarkson-Leigh Patriots and East Butler Tigers in Clarkson on January 4

The Lady Patriots JV team set the tone for the night with a win.

After the JV game, the Patriots girls’ varsity took the floor. The Tigers were 6-4 heading into the game, so the Patriots knew it wouldn’t be a walk in the park.  They had an exciting game and pulled off a win with an ending score of 46-24. They worked hard and were consistent all game.

“The defensive energy we had in the 1st and 3rd quarters allowed us to work our way into some transition baskets and get our offense going. The girls played extremely hard and limited any opportunities at the rim,” head coach Matt Murren said.

Senior Kaegan Held agreed that a quick start in the first quarter was a key to victory.

“We started off the game well with a good first quarter,” she said.  “We kind of stepped off the accelerator in the second quarter, which hurt us a bit. However, we were able to get back at it the third quarter to seal the win.”

Held, along with fellow senior Hannah Kasik, led the charge for the Patriots in the victory.  Held put up 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Kasik contributed 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals.
