Boys’ BB 1-1 in Weekend Games
It was an exciting match between the boys Clarkson Leigh Patriots and Humphrey St. Francis Flyers on January 11th. The Patriots came out fired up and ready to play in the beginning of the game, against a 9-3 St. Francis team.
Despite their best efforts, the Patriot offense just couldn’t get going, only scoring 12 points the entire second half.
In the end, the Flyers bested the Patriots with a final score of 33-67.
“I was proud of the effort and fight we put up against a quality team,” Head Coach Jeff Bachman said. “it was a great learning experience for us and will help us grow.”
“St. Francis can run the floor really fast and force you to make mistakes, which we fell into, especially in the fourth quarter,” said Tommy McEvoy, a sophomore at Clarkson High School.
Freshman Jarred Novotny led the team in scoring with 16 points, while freshman Carter Hanel added 9 rebounds.

Without much of a break, the boys played Pender the next day, January 12.
The Class C-2 Pendragons were 4-7 entering the match. It was an exciting game, and the Patriots led the entire game. It was just what the boys needed to boost their confidence heading into the second half of the season.
The Patriots won with a final score of 68-53.
“We got a great team effort to get the win. I was so proud of the team.” Coach Bachman said.
Sophomore Trevor Zulkoski said, “I thought that we played really good. One of our tasks was to shut down one of their players and that is what we did”, said Trevor Zulkouski, a sophomore at Leigh High School.
Senior Daniel Beller had an explosive night, scoring 26 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Novotny added 20 points of his own, along with 5 assists.
The Patriot boys’ season record now sits at 4-7.
