Leigh Quiz Bowl Team Eliminated from Radio Competition
Launch the media gallery 1 playerAfter defeating Hartington Cedar Catholic on January 8, the Leigh Quiz Bowl team advanced to the second round of the 64-team KTCH quiz bowl bracket.
The team dialed in for their second-round match-up around 9:30 am on February 4. They faced Boone Central in the single-elimination tournament. Seniors, Holly Kuhr, Kaegan Held, and Cort Pokorney answered 2 of their 3 questions correctly. Unfortunately, it was not quite enough as Boone Central went 3 for 3 on their questions.
Senior, Kaegan Held, said she really enjoyed the quiz bowl radio competition. “It was awesome to make it past the first round in this competition. The second round was tough, but we only lost by one question. I’m excited for our next competition.”
Coach Jay Knaak was pleased with the team, but expressed dismay at how the team lost.
“We stumbled on an easy question that should be apparent to anyone living in the United States of America,” he said.
After winning the match, Boone Central advanced to the Sweet 16 of the tournament, and Leigh was eliminated from competition.
