Leigh-Clarkson FFA Participates in Livestock Judging

Junior Team Places 2nd; Qualifies for State!

The Leigh-Clarkson FFA Chapter recently participated in the annual Livestock Judging competition on January 24 at Northeast Community College.

Leigh-Clarkson brought a senior and junior team to the competition.

The chapter competed against 13 schools in the senior division and 9 schools in the junior division.

The senior team finished in fifth place and the juniors ended up placing second. This qualifies the junior team for the state competition!

Three members of the junior team placed in the top 15 for individual placings: Justine Thompson: 3rd; Jacob Eisemann: 9th; Kanyon Held: 14th.

“I was very excited and surprised when I learned about the results in livestock judging,” Thompson said.  “It was a great experience, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Other members of the junior team include Morgan Gall, Audie Tejkl, Makenna Held, Maddie Noonan, and Colyn Dlouhy.

The Junior team will compete on Friday of State FFA in Lincoln.

Placing in the top 15 for the senior team was Riana Grotelueschen, who placed 10th.

Other members of the senior team include Carson Ahrens, Sawyer Kappel, Kara Kudera, Morgan Voborny, Abigail Langdon, Trevor Zulkoski, and Alexis Schroeder.

When asked how she thought the livestock judging teams did, FFA adviser Mrs. Brandy Held said, “I was extremely happy with how both of the livestock judging teams did on Thursday the 24th. District 2 is a very competitive District, so anytime we have both our teams in the top half, I am happy.  All of the kids participating worked hard, and represented the communities of Leigh and Clarkson well.”
