Holmberg and Beeson Attend EHC Honor Band

Alicia Holmberg and Mitchel Beeson represented the Clarkson-Leigh band at EHC Honor Band.

A total of 132 students attended the East Husker Conference Honor Band Clinic this year, and we’re proud to say that Alicia Holmberg and Mitchel Beeson represented our home towns at the event.

The event was held at Pender Public Schools on February 4th and lasted from 10 am to almost 8 at night. Both Alicia and Mitchel were honored to be in the Symphonic Band, which was directed by Greg Olson. They performed “The Haunted Carousel,” “Prestissimo,” “Regenesis,” and “Dreams of Scotland.”

Sophomore Alicia Holmberg said, “Honor Band was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed going, and I learned a lot through the experience. Knowing I was the only student from Leigh was a little intimidating, but I still had a lot of fun. The fact that I was able to play both the flute and piccolo at the concert was really exciting. I hope that I can continue playing well and go again next year.”

Mrs. Kowalski, the Clarkson-Leigh director, said, "This event gives students an opportunity to not only be a part of the honor band, but to make music with other students from different schools. It was a wonderful day and the concert went very well.”
