Kuhr and Fischer Place at Conference Speech
On Tuesday, February 26 the five Leigh Speech-sters traveled to Humphrey for the annual EHC Conference Speech Meet.
The five who attended were Alex Fischer, Aiden Miller, Alicia Holmberg, Holly Kuhr, and Aiden Miller.
Against great competition from 8 schools, Fischer and Kuhr both placed!
In Extemporaneous, Alex and Aiden both received an Excellent rating. In Poetry, Alex earned a 5th place medal and Aiden received an excellent rating. In Serious Prose, Alicia earned a Superior rating. In Humorous Prose, Holly earned a 3rd place medal and Audie received a superior rating.
Sophomore Alicia Holmberg said, “The conference speech meet was a fantastic opportunity to show how hard that we have been working. There was a lot of good competition that we were up against, but we learned a lot at this meet. I am confident that we will continue to grow as we prepare for districts.”
Speech Coach Mr. V said, “Out of five students, two made it into finals against some very tough conference competition and others got superior ratings. I am proud of the efforts of our team and am confident that they will work hard as we head into districts."
