Leigh Speech Team Competes at Riverside
On Wednesday March 6, the Leigh Speech team traveled to Cedar Rapids for their last speech meet before districts. Four out of the team members attended the meet: Alex Fischer, Holly Kuhr, Audie Tejkl, and Alicia Holmberg.
Senior Alex Fischer said, “It was a great day of competition overall. There was a lot of tough competition, and we all competed our hardest, but in the end, nobody made finals and medaled.
In Humorous Prose, Holly and Audie both earned a Superior rating. In Serious Prose Alicia earned a Superior rating as well. In Poetry Alex earned a superior rating. In Extemporaneous, Alex earned an excellent.
Speech coach Mr. Volquarden said, "I am proud to see that our LHS speechletes are continually improving. With districts next week, I am hopeful that they have gained the skills to compete strongly."
