FFA Holds CDE Contest

An eventful day occurred for some of the members of the Leigh-Clarkson FFA Chapter on Tuesday, March 5th. The yearly CDE contest was held at Central Community College in Columbus. CDE stands for Career Development Events.  Members participated in their events starting at 9 am and ending at around 1 pm.

Students competed in events like Agriscience, Vet Science, Livestock Management, Welding, Floriculture, Agronomy, and more. Members arrived at CCC at about 8:30 and then headed off to whatever they participated in. After their events were finished, some of the Leigh- Clarkson FFA members played cards or games in their free time.

Not only was this a fun day for the members that participated, but it was also a good experience for the freshman learn more about what FFA has to offer.

Here is what Madison Noonan, a freshman at Leigh had to say about the event: “CDE contest was a spectacular experience for me. There was many great events our chapter competed in. This was a way for us to show what we know, along with some of the skills we have learned. I am looking forward to next year’s CDE.”

CDE teams advancing to State FFA in April are Agriscience, Agronomy, Farm Business Management, Meats, and Nursery Landscape.

Abigail Langdon, placed 2nd in Shielded Arc Metal Welding, and John Langhorst placed 2nd in Farm Business Management.
