Emily Loseke and Dylan Higby Celebrated as Students of the Month

As the school year is winding down to an end, our students’ willingness to help and best effort certainly is not. Our Student of the Month recipients exemplify the best attitudes and work ethics and this month’s picks don’t fall short of that category. Our April Students of the Month are Emily Loseke and Dylan Higby.

Emily is a sophomore this year.  Her parents are Pam and Ben Loseke. She is the grand-daughter of Rick and Judy Loseke of Leigh and Joe and Sylvia Moody of Ainsworth.

She is an active participant of the Youth Advisory Council, journalism, yearbook, One-Act, FBLA, FCCLA, track, basketball, band, and volleyball.

Her favorite subjects are business, English, and art. Outside of school, she participates in the All-Star 4H club and St. John’s church youth group and Sunday School in Columbus. Some of her favorite hobbies are photography, art, working with younger kids, and being involved in the community. She’s not quite sure what she wants to go in to for a career, but she would enjoy working with kids and people or a job that involves creativity, thought, art, or writing.

“I really appreciate being recognized for this award, and I'm very thankful to grow up in this amazing community. It really means a lot knowing I'm leaving a positive impact,” Emily stated after receiving her award.

Some things the teachers had to say about Emily:

  • “Although I do not have Emily in class, she always has a friendly smile and hello in the halls. I know that Emily is a hard worker and is involved in many school-related activities. In everything she does, Emily strives to do her best!”

  • “Emily is a very kind and hardworking individual. She is a leader in our school and is a true pleasure to have in class.”

  •

Dylan is the son of Nate and Katie Higby. He is a seventh grader this year. His grandparents are Mark and Karla Higby of Madison and Dennis and Mark Stoklasa of Clarkson. He’s involved in junior high football, basketball, wrestling, and track, and his favorite subject in school is social studies. His hobbies include hunting and golfing with his dad. As of right now, the career he is most interested in is becoming an engineer.

Dylan remarks, “To win this award it feels pretty good because it makes me feel like I’m doing pretty well in school and that I am showing it to teachers.”

Some things the teachers had to say about Dylan:

  • “Dylan is very polite and hard working. He is a willing helper and an all around good kid.”

  • “Dylan is a good kid who does not have to follow the crowd. He is able to show empathy and self-confidence without bringing others down.”

Congrats to our Student of the Month recipients!
