FFA and FCCLA Members Participate in Annual Highway Cleanup

If anyone has seen teenagers roaming the ditches in bright yellow vests carrying giant trash bags, they were probably affiliated with the Clarkson-Leigh FFA or FCCLA.  Both chapters participated in highway clean up in the past couple weeks.

FFA members and FCCLA members both cleaned mile-long stretches along Highway 91 outside of Leigh.

Chapter advisor Megan Hillen said, “I would like to thank the FCCLA members who helped with highway cleanup efforts on one of the windiest days of the year. Also, a big thank you to the department of roads for delivering the cleanup supplies to the school.”

Chapter advisor Mrs. Brandy Held said, “It was great having our members out doing their part for the community.”

Seven FCCLA members and 11 FFA members helped out in the efforts, each held on separate days.

Kyleigh Rayback, a three-year FCCLA member, said, “The weather was much harsher than it has been in previous years, but the cold didn’t stop us from having a good time while we worked!”

Trevor Zulkoski, sophomore FFA member, said, “Helping out with highway cleanup every year is a great way to help our community look good, and it makes you feel good too.”
