Girls Track Team Finishes as Champion/Runner-Up in Back to Back Meets

Have you ever gotten the feeling that people never truly take you seriously?

Whether we’re the new team, the little guy, or too young and inexperienced, others sometimes tend to overlook the Clarkson-Leigh track team.

However, at the recent Humphrey track meets, the Clarkson-Leigh track team proved that they are not to be overlooked. Throughout the whole day, the track buzzed about the state champs and the formidable athletes. But by the end of the meet, Clarkson-Leigh was noticed.

The St. Francis meet was held on April 23, and the Patriot girls were the meet champions. The very next week on May 1, the girls received 2nd as a whole at the Bulldog Invite. Overall, both meets were a success, and the whole team has shown improvement throughout the season.

“Both days were great for all track participants to compete and show what we had. We worked hard, and it showed when we received a 2nd place plaque for the Humphrey High invite,” said freshman Kennedy Settje.

Assistant track coach Mr. Bachman said, “Our kids did a great job of competing. It has been fun to see them grow through the year and get better each week.”
