Girls 4x1 Team Wins Norfolk Classic!

The girls 4x100 meter relay captured first place at the Norfolk Track Classic.

Nine Clarkson-Leigh track team members qualified to compete at the Norfolk Classic on April 25th. The Norfolk Classic isn’t a usual meet. You have to be chosen to participate in it and you compete against the best of the best with people around Northeast Nebraska.

The nine kids that participated were Tommy McEvoy, Kaegan Held, McKenna Stodola, Halee Steffensmeier, Emily Loseke, Morgan Brabec, Kennedy Settje, Kelsey Moore, and Cassie Brabec.

McEvoy was supposed to run in the 100 and 200 but didn’t run due to injury.

Held ran the 100-meter hurdles and received 4th. She also ran the 4x100 meter relay with McKenna, Halee, and Emily and they received 1st place.

Morgan and her partner Kennedy and Kelsey and her partner Cassie each earned medals in the Unified 100M and the Unified Long Jump.

“As a senior, I think my last experience at the Norfolk Classic was very fun,” senior Kaegan Held said. “The Norfolk Classic is basically like a mini state meet, and making it is an honor. However, placing is an even bigger one. I was thrilled when I got fourth in the 100 Hurdles and when we were able to take home first in the 4x1. I am happy that I got to experience this meet and I wish the best of luck to track athletes in the future on making it as well. I am very excited for my last couple of weeks of track and I hope that I can end it on a good note!”

When Coach Wietfeld was asked about the Norfolk Classic, she said,“The Norfolk Classic was another great experience for Clarkson-Leigh track athletes. Each participant came ready to take on a challenge. Our 4x1 with Kaegan, McKenna, Halee, and Emily proved again that hard work pays off. They were determined to get be successful, and they were, earning that gold medal and breaking their previous set Patriot record. Overall, it was an exceptional night.”
