FCCLA Holds End-of-Year Banquet

2019-2020 FCCLA Officer Team (L to R): Abbi Brabec, Cassidy Hoffman, Reagan Settje, Taylor Larson, Payje Rayback, Bailey Lemburg, Alicia Holmberg, Natalie Brabec.

As the school year winds down, so do the activities that the students participate in. The end of the school year holds many banquets and closing meetings, so recently the FCCLA chapter held their banquet.

On Tuesday, May 7th, the Leigh-Clarkson held their annual end-of-year potluck banquet in the Leigh Gym. The banquet is always an excellent opportunity for the FCCLA members to be recognized for their achievements in FCCLA.

The banquet started with an introduction and the dinner. After everyone had concluded eating, the awards portion of the banquet began. The first awards that the members received were the awards for years of membership. Only one senior, Logan Becher, earned the FCCLA Achievement Award for being in FCCLA for six years. The other graduating seniors, Paige Moore, Amber Novotny, Beth Wiese, Halee Steffensmeier, John Langhorst, and Kiara Brabec, also earned awards for their years of membership.

The next set of awards was to the “Outstanding Members”. There was one member chosen from each grade: Tanyn Larson (7th grade), Jessica Hoffman (8th grade), Natalie Brabec (freshman), Alicia Holmberg (sophomore), Payje Rayback (junior), and the senior outstanding member was Logan Becher.

Advisor Mrs. Megan Hillen said, “We had a great turnout for our FCCLA banquet this. It was a successful night of recognizing our members and their successes from this past year. We also had the opportunity to thank our seniors for their years of service and wish them well with their future plans. I am looking forward to another successful year with the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA chapter.”

At this banquet STAR competitors were also recognized for their participation in STAR and given the certificates that their earned throughout the year at Districts and at State.

Paige Moore, the 2018-2019 president, gave her final speech as president to thank all of the members and Mrs. Hillen for helping her through this year.

The last event of the night was the installation of the new officers. The new officer team contains eight officers compared to last year’s seven.
