Sophomore FFA Students Tour Chicken Barns

FFA has given many individuals opportunities that otherwise they would never experience. Friday, August 23rd was one of those times. The Leigh-Clarkson FFA sophomores were given the chance to tour Roger and Joan Gall’s new chicken barns.

Students were able to learn about all of the functions of the barns as well as everything that goes into keeping the chickens healthy. They were able to tour all parts of the barn and learned about everything from how they were fed, to how the barn was able to keep the temperature stable.  Afterwards, students were given donuts and pop.

Madison Noonan, a sophomore from Leigh said, “The tour of Gall’s chicken barns was a great opportunity for the sophomores in FFA to learn about the work and process of having chicken barns. We learned many new things about chickens and even saw how “smart” a barn for that specific use is.”

Leigh-Clarkson FFA advisor Brandy Held believed the experience was a positive one for the ag students.

Touring the Gall Poultry Facility was a great opportunity for our students,” Held said.  “They learned about the impact the industry is having on Nebraska agriculture, and also careers within the industry.”
