Volleyball Kicks Off Season with Scrimmage and Jamboree

The Clarkson/Leigh volleyball team has had an eventful summer and is ready to kick off their season.

The Patriots started out their season with their annual Gatorade scrimmage on August 22. The teams were split up evenly, and they were ready to square off against each other.

Even though they were playing against their teammates, the volleyball team made it into a little friendly competition. They gave it their all to showcase what they had in store for the rest of the season.

Junior, Cassidy Hoffman said, “We are really looking forward to this season to see what we can do! We have a lot of potential and this season is looking promising. The scrimmage went amazing and it was fun to play against each other competitively. We are super excited to see what this season has to hold!”

Head Coach Becky Schneider echoes Hoffman’s enthusiasm.

“Even though we’re young and lack varsity experience, we look to continue to grow and push towards greater success with this group,” Schneider said. “We have a fun group and they work hard, so if we can stick to basic fundamentals and take care of the ball, we should have a great season!”

This year’s team consists of 5 seniors: Reagan Settje, Ashlynn Novotny, Taylor Larson, Kim Stodola, and Brittney Urbanek.

Juniors include Cassidy Hoffman, Alissa Kasik, Kayden Schumacher, Bailey Lemburg, and Grace Baumert.

The sophomores are Kennedy Settje, Makenna Held, Melissa Bunner, McKenna Stodola, Bailie Graybill, Natalie Brabec, Alexis Knapp, and Maddie Noonan.

Rounding out the team are freshmen Sydney Reeves, Kerstyn Held, Korbee Wendt, Ella Kappel, Sammy McEvoy, and Jessica Hoffman.

They are coached by Becky Schneider and assisted by Bri Wietfeld, Justine Fischer, and KC Hegemann.

The Patriots have a Jamboree game against Norfolk Catholic on August 27. They kick off their first regular season game against Howells-Dodge on September 3.
