Cyclones Defeat West Point in Home Match
Local fans witnessed a win and a loss for the Highway 91 Cyclones on Thursday, September 12. The Cyclones played a triangular against West Point and Twin River. It was conveniently in Leigh, which made it a fun night for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones lost to Twin River, but redeemed themselves with a win against West Point.
The first game against Twin River got off to a rocky start. Twin River scored 3 runs in the first inning and 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. This put them at a total of 7 runs in the first three innings.
The Cyclones, though, determined not to give up, scored 4 runs in the 3rd. Then neither team scored again until the 5th inning. Both teams scored one run in the 5th inning, but it was not enough of a rally for the Cyclones, who lost 5-8.
In the second game, West Point scored 5 runs in the first inning and the Cyclones scored 2. The Cyclones weren’t going to back down, though. In the 2nd inning both teams scored 2 runs. In the 3rd inning West Point scored 1 run while the Cyclones scored a big 11 runs. In the final innings neither of the teams scored. The final score was 15-8
“I feel like we hit really well against the pitcher in the West Point game. This was a great start to our season, as we are getting to the prime games. Getting this win will get us at a decent spot in Conference,” said junior, Rylee Olson.
