Patriots Start District Play with a Win
The Clarkson-Leigh Patriots started off on a high note in district play with a win against Pender on September 27, defeating them 60-6.
“We came out and dominated them and it was a lot of fun,” senior Isaak Wiese said.
The Patriots started the game off by scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter compared to Pender’s zero. Clarkson-Leigh scored off a 3 yd pass from Lance Paprocki to Carter Hanel, with the two-point conversion ran in by Kyle Kasik, and off a 7 yd run form Eli Hays with a failed two-point conversion.
The Patriots had a good second quarter as well, scoring two touchdowns again. Lance Paprocki ran in both touchdowns off 1 yd runs while he and Hays ran in the two-point conversions. Pender also scored in the 2nd quarter off a 10-yd pass from Caleb Trimble to Austin Roth. The Pendragons failed to put in the two-point conversion, making the score 30-6 in favor of Clarkson Leigh going into halftime.
Clarkson-Leigh came out of halftime playing a dominant third quarter. Lance Paprocki had three rushing touchdowns with the two-point conversions being put in by himself, Hays, and Kasik.
The Patriots ended the game as strong as they started, scoring one touchdown in the fourth quarter. Eli Hays had a 1 yd rushing touchdown, but the Patriots failed the two-point conversion attempt.
Coach Bob McEvoy said, “The offensive line and the defense dominated the game, and we were pleased with the outcome.”
