High School Students Attend Dating Violence Assembly
Students at Leigh High School enhanced their knowledge of dating and dating violence at an assembly hosted by Center For Survivors on October 29 at 9 am.
Center For Survivors taught the high school students what to do if they are in a violent relationship, and what to do if you see or know somebody else in a violent relationship. They also performed a very realistic skit about what dating violence is like and how badly it can affect an individual. Lastly, they showed a slideshow that aimed at helping students realize how serious the issue is.
Overall the students enjoyed the presentation Center For Survivors put on, and they walked away with way more knowledge than they started with.
School counselor, Karen Hillen said, “The assembly highlighted things that can happen in any dating relationship. It is important to remember that even in small schools, these types of things can happen. Through this presentation, I hope our students have been made aware of signs to look for in dating relationships and what they can do to get help or report it.”
