2019 Girls' Golf Team: Kneeling: Hazel Mundt; Second Row L to R: Mady Janousek, Ashlynn Cropp; Back Row: Ashly Guillen, Cortlynn Cadwallader.

The girls golf team is at it again this week with two meets in Stanton. The first meet was a triangular with Stanton, Clarkson-Leigh, and Norfolk Catholic.

The scores included Ashlynn Cropp shooting a 97, Mady Janousek shooting a 87, Cortlynn Cadwallader shooting an 88, Hazel Mondt shooting 100, and Ashly Guillen shooting 89.

Coach Knaak stated: "We improved a lot in a week.  The girls improved by 40+ strokes over their first meet.  All the girls are getting better and great to see the improvement.  They just need more experience and practice and will become better each meet.”

The second meet was an invite at Stanton with Stanton, Norfolk, Clarkson-Leigh, Laurel-Concord, Wayne, West Point-Beemer, Humphrey St. Francis, Humphrey-Lindsay, and Osceola.

Coach Knaak said from the Stanton Invite, “We improved again today in our first Invitational. The girls improved while playing 18 holes today in the second 9 holes.  We need to work on our short game to drop our scores even more in the coming weeks.  We have the week off to work on those things before our next Invite in Battle Creek on Monday the 16th.”

The scores of the Stanton invite include, Ashlynn Cropp - 168, Mady Janousek - 144, Cortlynn Cadwallader - 164, Hazel Mondt shooting - 166 and Ashly Guillen shooting - 160.

Mady Janousek, a freshman from Clarkson said, “I have never played or thought of playing golf. I wanted to try it and see what it was about. I went to a few practices and loved it. At first I thought I would get bored, but I am happy I tried it.”
