Patriots Prevail to Earn First Win

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriots won their first game of the season against Parkview Christian in Lincoln on Friday, September 20. 

 

Clarkson-Leigh started the game off strong from the get-go, going up early when quarterback Lance Paprocki ran in an 18-yd touchdown and put in the two point conversion himself. 

 

Later in the first quarter Clarkson-Leigh scored again off a 5-yd run from Eli Hays. Clarkson-Leigh then put in the two-point conversion off a pass from Paprocki to Carter Hanel, putting them up 16-0 going into the second.

 

Clarkson Leigh added to their score early in the second quarter off a 40-yd pass, again from Paprocki to Hanel. Paprocki ran in the two-point conversion himself. Parkview Christian came back with a touchdown of their own off a 5-yd run from Seth Stoll with a failed two-point conversion. 

 

Eli Hays scored four times in the second quarter: a 70-yd kick return with the two-point conversion ran in by Kyle Kasik; a 31-yd interception return with the two-point conversion ran in by Lance Paprocki; a 42 yd kick return with the two-point conversion ran in by Mason Whitmore; and an 11-yd run where he ran in the two-point conversion himself. 

 

Mitchel Beeson added a safety in the second quarter. Clarkson went into halftime up big 58-6. 

 

Coming out of halftime Parkview Christian scored off a 40-yd pass with a failed two-point conversion. The Patriots answered off a 36-yd run from freshman Kyle Kasik with a failed two-point conversion. In the fourth quarter Parkview Christian scored off one more pass touchdown and two-point conversion.

 

Kasik led the team with 120 rushing yards

 

The final score of the game was Clarkson-Leigh 64, Parkview Christian 20. 

 

When asked about the game quarterback Lance Paprocki said, “We had a slow start, but once we picked things up, we took care of business.” 

 

Assistant Coach Matt Murren said, "We came out strong in the first half and executed our game plan. We played with great effort which allowed us to get up 58-6 at the half. It was a great day to get a lot of kids playing time." 

 

This brings the Patriots’ record to 1-2.  Their next game is Friday, September 27 against Pender at home.
