Girls Golf Competes at Conference
Whenever any team plays at the conference meet, it inevitably means that their season is coming to an end. This was no exception for the girls' golf team. They traveled to Stanton on September 28 to compete at the East Husker Conference Girls’ Golf Meet. Ashly Guillen was the only girl who placed for the Patriots, finishing 12th overall with a score of 122. Clarkson-Leigh place 4th overall as a team out of 5 teams.
In addition to Guillen, Ashlynn Cropp placed 18th with a score of 156, Cortlynn Cadwallader place 19th with a score of 170, and Hazel Mondt place 20th with a score of 172.
Coach Knaak said, "The girls finished 4th in the EHC Conference Golf Meet in Stanton on Saturday. We came away with Ashly Guillen placing 12th to earn a medal. This is the first medal of the year and she broke 60 with a 57, which is the lowest round of the year for the girls. We were set back with an illness and a broken nose. The sickness did not make it to the meet but I was proud of Ashlynn Cropp to battle through a broken nose to compete in the meet and shoot her low rounds of the year. We need to continue to work on our short game and putting, and will work on some on hitting out of the sand to prepare for districts."
