Softball and Volleyball Select EHC All-Conference Award Recipients

Three Leigh athletes received All-Conference awards for the fall sports season. (L to R): Cassidy Hoffman (1st Team Volleyball), Payje Rayback (2nd Team Softball), Kennedy Settje (3rd Team Volleyball).

Three well-deserved recipients from Clarkson-Leigh girls fall sports’ teams received East Husker All-Conference awards for the season.

Payje Rayback, a senior, received second team in softball.  Junior Cassidy Hoffman made the cut for first-team in volleyball, and Kennedy Settje, a sophomore was selected to the Third Team for volleyball.

Head softball coach Adam Indra said, “Congratulations to Payje.  This honor is much deserved. Payje had a great year as she only committed one defensive error while starting every game at first base. Payje was a great leader and role model for the team and even a better teammate.”

“It's nice to know that not only my coaches recognize my hand work, but so do other coaches,” Rayback said. “I’m sad to see my last season end, but I can’t wait to see how the team does next year.”

On the volleyball side of things, Head Coach Becky Schneider said,  “Cassidy was our only returner with varsity experience. She had to step up, be a leader and learn to play with teammates who didn’t have that same experience!  She really grew in her leadership skills by encouraging and being positive!  She worked hard at the net, going to pin to pin on the block, and always tried to be an option on offense!    Kennedy is a very competitive athlete. She is a 6-rotation player who has a great understanding of the game and does a phenomenal job at taking care of the ball!  She is a well-rounded player who is extremely coachable and is always looking for ways to get better and make the team better! I think any one of our players would have been a great choice and would be deserving, but congratulations to Cass and Ken!  They deserve it and represent our communities, schools, and team very well!”

Cassidy Hoffman said, “I feel so honored and grateful to be recognized in the first-team all-conference. I know how many talented and competitive girls there are in our conference, so I am super proud to have received this, knowing that my team and I worked very hard this season!”

Kennedy Settje said, “Getting recognized in the 3rd All-Conference team is super cool. I'm really thankful to be acknowledged for this award because it shows that everything I've done has paid off! I can't wait to see what next year has in store for us!”

Congratulations to these three Patriot athletes!
