Elementary Christmas Concert Experiments with Variety of Genres
We’ve all heard the classic Christmas carols about Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus, and even a walking and talking snowman, but this year, the Leigh Elementary decided to change things up a bit.
On December 16th, with the theme of “Styles of Music” in mind, Leigh’s preschool through 6th grade classes entertained our community with a variety of songs, a skit, a song by the fourth graders and their recorders, a performance from the 5th and 6th grade band, and a solo by one of Leigh’s Elementary All-State singers, Soleece Hill.
The entire high school gym was full of supporters, and between the rock and roll, techno rock, country, and Broadway music styles, everyone was engaged.
Elementary and high school choir instructor, Cindy Settje, said, “This semester we have been learning about different genres of music, so this Winter Concert was a great way to incorporate different styles of music into the program. The students enjoyed new songs as well as adding choreography and narration to the program.”
Throughout the concert and in between songs, the audience was privileged with a guest appearance of Elvis (Blake Loseke), and other speakers, which included Carmen Melena, Reese Wietfeld, Sylvia McCord, Vylet Hollatz, Reese Bruhn, Reann Bruhn, Emersyn Urban, Faedn McCord, Elizabeth Hoffman, and Grace Hansen.
Mrs. Settje wished to thank everyone for the support that helped make this event a fun and successful night like always.
