Girls’ Varsity BB Defeats Howells-Dodge
On Saturday, December 21, the Patriots boys’ and girls’ basketball teams traveled to Howells-Dodge, and came back home with 2 wins out of 4 games on the night.
The night started off with the JV girls who lost. No stats were available.
After the JV girls were done, it was then the JV boys turn and they won by 2 points. The ending score was 44-42.
Freshman Kyle Holmberg led the team with 14 points, and junior, Trevor Zulkoski contributed 6 rebounds.
Senior Kobe Indra said, “We gave it all as a team and a family and wish for the best for the rest of the season.”

Following the JV games, it was time for the varsity teams to play.
In the first 2 quarters the Girls Varsity team was neck and neck with the Jaguars. Then the Jaguars started to slow down. The final score was 53-36, giving the Patriots a win.
Senior Kim Stodola and, junior, Cassidy Hoffman led the team with 14 points, and Hoffman also added 9 rebounds
“It was a great win for us to end on before Christmas break and moratorium,” Hoffman said. “Even though we didn’t come out with the intensity that we wanted, we really cranked it up in the second half to shut them down and get ourselves going.”

After the girls’ game was done, it was time for the boys to play. The game started out tight, with the Patriots trailing by 3 at the end of the first quarter. They kept it close going into halftime with a score of 24-32, but in the third quarter, the Jaguars really pulled away.
The Patriots did outscore the Jaguars by four points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. The Patriots lost 61-77.
The team was led by Jarred Novotny who racked up 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Coach Bachman said, “I was really happy how hard our guys played. Foul trouble ultimately cost us the game. We need to learn from these mistakes and improve as a team.”
