January 11 was a great night for the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots. They played Tekameh-Herman in Clarkson. The Patriots ended the night with four total wins.
The JV boys and girls started off the night with two wins. The JV girls played only two quarters. No stats were available for these games.
Following the JV games was varsity. The varsity girls started out the night with a win. The score after the first half of the game was 29-11. The final score of the game was 57-30, extending the Patriot girls’ win streak to 8 games!
Junior, Cassidy Hoffman said, “This was an important game for us to continue our winning streak after getting back from holiday break. Hopefully we can carry the energy and aggression from this game over to the big games coming up toward the end of the season.”
As always, the girls led a balanced offensive attack. Senior Ashlynn Novotny and sophomore Kennedy Settje led the scoring with 13 and 12 points respectively.
Head coach, Matt Murren said, “The girls came out and played with great energy and effort on Saturday. Defensively we were flying around, communicating and getting stops while limiting them to only one shot each possession. It's key for us to close every possession with a clean rebound on the first attempt to get us in our transition. It was great to see the way the girls played on Saturday. It was a great way to end a busy week.”
This win brings the Patriot girls’ record to 10-3.
