Patriot Girls Cage the Tigers

As the Patriot boys had the night off, Friday, January 10th, the lady Patriots traveled to East Butler to take on the Tigers.

JV’s started out the night with a 25-17 win. The girls worked really hard, and kept the Tigers at a minimum.

Varsity followed with another win. The girls came out fired up and ready to go. The ladies kicked off the first quarter with 24 points, leaving their opponent in the dust with just 9.

The second quarter was off to a rough start with only 6 points to math their opponents 12. The ladies ended the first half of the game with 30 points leaving their opponents with 21.

Coming back from halftime gave the girls a little energy boost. They continued to work hard and play at a high intensity that carried through the rest of the game. They kept the Tigers at a minimum of 20 points in the second half of the game while the lady Pats snuck in 33 more points winning the game, 63- 41.

Junior Cassidy Hoffman led the team with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Hoffman said, "Even though we didn't play our best game, we still managed to pull off a win by quite a few points. We just need to work on handling the ball better and avoiding unforced turnovers. Overall, though, we played well together and had a great first quarter."

Head Coach Matt Murren said, "We started out quickly against East Butler in the 1st quarter, scoring 24 points and really finding a lot of great looks. We didn't play our standard of basketball in the 2nd quarter and allowed them to get back in the game. In the second half, we were able to find some openings in their defense and knock down some shots. It was a good road win against a very scrappy East Butler team that plays extremely hard."

With this win, the girls’ record improves to 9-3.
