JH Girls BB Wins Two in a Row
The strength of the team lies in each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.
The junior high girls’ basketball team has been capitalizing on their strengths lately. They recently finished out a great week of basketball beating two very talented opponents. Their first game was against Stanton on Thursday January 16, where they kicked some Mustang butt, beating them 39-19. Then on Saturday, January 18, they played the Howells-Dodge Jaguars, ending the game with a final score 49-15.
“We started off a little rough, but we came out with wins in the end,” said Gracie Eisenmann, an eighth-grader at Leigh. “We played as hard as we could to come out with the win and I’m really proud of my team for playing there hardest and getting the wins.”
Junior High assistant coach Melissa Brabec said, “The girls continue to do a great job of making offensive moves and looking for the open players, as our posts are executing well under the basket too! They played well and I am proud of their coachability and continual improvement! Our energy against Stanton started out low, but we prevailed throughout the game. The girls were able to get some layups and inside shots that kept us ahead throughout the game. They worked well together and applied a lot of skills that we have been working hard on in practice!”
