Four Students Selected for WSC Honor Choir

2020 WSC Honor Choir Performers (L to R): Alicia Holmberg, Rylee Olson, Taya Gross, Lexi Schroeder

On Friday, January 31, four Leigh High School choir students rocked Honor Choir at Wayne State. Those attending were juniors, Rylee Olson and Alicia Holmberg, and seniors, Taya Gross and Lexi Schroeder.

Senior Taya Gross said, “It was a great experience for the four of us and we made so many great friends. I’m glad we went.”

Alica Holmberg sang “Stars Tonight” and “Dies Irae”. Taya Gross, Rylee Olsen, and Lexi Schroeder sang “Africa” by Toto.

The clinician, Dr. Matthew Armstrong, director of music Wayne State College said:

“We will have about 425 talented high school singers on campus this year. This reveals that we have dedicated music teachers going above and beyond for their students in Northeast Nebraska and the surrounding regions. We’re humbled and honored to have you and your students make music with us.”

Also, Cindy Settje said “This was a wonderful opportunity to sing with other top-notch singers from across the state as well as Iowa.  It was also an opportunity to see how the Wayne State Music Departments works in case they are interested in participating in music while in college.  I was very proud of the four for being selected and able to attend.”
