Patriot Basketball Honors Parents Against Wisner-Pilger

You win some you lose some, and this is how it went for the Patriot basketball team on January 28 when they battled the Wisner Pilger Gators. This day was also Parents’ Night where we recognized the athletes’ supportive parents.

The Patriots girls’ JV team won 30-19, and the varsity team won 49-39.

The Patriots put up a well-balanced attack with Cassidy Hoffman, Ashlynn Novotny, and Kennedy Settje all scoring double-digits with 13, 12, and 10 points respectively.

Girls head coach Matt Murren said, "We came out and did a lot of good things early on in the game. It took us a while to get going offensively and knock down some shots to get us some momentum. Overall, it was great to get a win for us.”

The Patriots boys’ varsity team lost 38-72 while the boys JV lost 25-45.

The Patriot boys were led by Jarred Novotny, who put up 9 points and 3 boards.

Freshman varsity player Kyle Kasik said “We started off with a rough start and then we tried to fight back the rest of the game but we didn’t have enough.”

After this game, the girls’ varsity record is 13-4 and the boys’ varsity is 5-10.
