LHS Celebrates FCCLA Week

Senior Payje Rayback (left) is pictured with Leigh FCS teacher Mrs. Megan Hillen (right) for FCS Educator's Day. Payje will be attending Wayne State College next year majoring in FCS Education.

All across the state and nation, FCCLA Week was celebrated from February 10-14.  There were many fun activities at both Leigh and Clarkson schools.

On Monday, students were able to look throughout the high school building for printouts of the FCCLA logo. They were taped all over the building and when brought to Mrs. Hillen’s FCS room, the students were given a prize.

Tuesday brought yet another fun activity. On Trivia Tuesday there were flyers with 10 trivia questions taped all over the school. When a person answered all the questions correctly to Mrs. Hillen, then they earned a prize.

Chapter Secretary, Payje Rayback said, “FCCLA week is a great week for people to learn more about FCCLA. I was also excited to see a lot of people participate in all of our activities for the week.”

Wednesday brought a school favorite: Donut Day. Leigh teachers and students were treated to donuts from the Clarkson bakery in the Cafeteria. Clarkson students were also able to enjoy donuts on Thursday.

Wednesday was also National Family and Consumer Sciences Educators Day. At Leigh we were able to celebrate with Megan Hillen, our FCS teacher and advisor, as well as Payje Rayback, a future FCS teacher.

Friday brought the end of the week and the last day of National FCCLA week.  FCCLA members dressed up in their red gear.

Advisor, Mrs. Megan Hillen said, “We always look forward to celebrating FCCLA week. It is a great time for our chapter to bring awareness to our organization as well as celebrate the successes of the school year thus far. We also use this week to say thanks to those who help support us throughout the school year.”
