Senior Spotlight: Alexis Schroeder

On October 23, 2001, Ron and Sharon Schroeder were the happiest parents as they welcomed their oldest child, Alexis Rose Schroeder, to the world.

Ron and Sharon later expanded their family with Logan, who is 16 and a sophomore. Alexis’ grandparents are Corney and Shirley Schroeder of Norfolk and Lorraine and the late Ray Ortmeier of Dodge. The Schroeder family has two dogs, a beagle named Jake, and a black lab/German shorthair mix named Bella.

Three words that describe Alexis believes describe her are hard-working, outgoing, and energetic.

Some of Alexis’ favorite things are social studies, personal finance, and shop class. Her favorite movies/shows are “Dexter” and “You” the Netflix series. Her favorite restaurant is Mongolian Grill in Norfolk, and she said she doesn’t have a favorite song because she likes all music.

Outside of school Alexis can be found hanging out with friends, going out, and just being outside.

Alexis has been very busy throughout her high school career.  Some activities she has participated in are One-Act, FFA, and Journalism for 4 years; volleyball, Leigh Youth Advisory Committee, and band for 3 years; choir and yearbook for 2 years; and speech team for 1 year.

Alexis’ says she has had many favorite high school memories, but they greatest ones involved Mr. Tyser when he used to jumped off the ag tables, or when he caught her sleeping in class and dropped a 2x4 next to her head yelling “Timber!”

Three goals on her bucket list include going skydiving, learning how to snowboard, and travelling to Sussex, England, to visit the Beachy Head Cliff.

In 10-15 years Alexis sees herself accomplishing her goal of being a professional welder, married, with kids.

If Alexis won the lottery, she said she would give some to her parents and use the rest to travel the world.  She would also save some money for family things later on in life.

Alexis’ advice to underclassmen is “Life’s gonna knock you down. It’s your choice whether you want to get back up or not.”

Congratulations, Alexis, and to everyone in the class of 2020!
