Senior Spotlight: Natalie Reeves

On June 8th, 2002 in O’Neill, Nebraska, parents Tyler and Angie Reeves were blessed with their first child, Natalie Jo Reeves.

Tyer and Angie later expanded their family with Sydney, who is 14 and a freshman at Leigh this year. Natalie’s family would not be complete without their English Bulldog, Mylo and Yellow Lab, Jerzey.

Throughout Natalie’s high school career, she has been extremely busy in various activities. She has participated in journalism, softball, one-act, choir, and FFA for four years; yearbook, Youth Advisory Committee, and National Honor Society for three years; band, FBLA, and track for two years; and basketball for one year.

Even though she is very involved in school, she finds time to hang out with friends, spend time with family, cook and bake in her free time.

To get to know Natalie a little better, she described herself in these three words: motivated, fun, and personable. Her worst habit is biting her nails.

Natalie also has many favorites in life.  Her favorite subject in school is chemistry. Her favorite movie is “Me Before You” and her favorite sports team is the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Natalie's favorite restaurant is Chipotle.

She says her favorite high school memory was being the first team in Cyclone history to win a tournament, and that her proudest moment was representing our FFA chapter at State FFA in Cooperative Speaking.

Natalie has received several honors besides just making it to state in FFA. She has made Academic All State in softball her Junior and Senior year. She has also been an officer in FFA, FBLA, and Youth Advisory Committee. She has also been nominated for “Student of the Month” and was a Cornhusker Girls State graduate.

After high school Natalie plans to attend Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. She will major in Nursing.

When asked where she sees herself in 10-15 years, she answered that she would like to have a nursing job in the hospital, preferably the OB department and hopefully have a husband and a child or two. She stated that if she were also fortunate enough to win the lottery, she would pay off any student loans, give some to charity, put some away into savings, and keep a little for personal use.

Three goals of Natalie’s are to build her own house, travel, and have a family. If she should travel anywhere in the world, she would travel to Amsterdam to take a boat ride through the canal system.

One person who Natalie admires in her life is her mom.

“She’s taught me to always work hard.” Natalie said.

As Natalie Reeves departs Leigh High School, she leaves a little advice for the underclassmen: “Always be yourself. Don’t let others' opinions get in the way of you being true to yourself!”

Good luck and congrats, Natalie!
