Leigh Alum Jayden Pokorney Joins Teaching Staff

By: Aubrie Hanna, a freshman at Leigh High School

This year, Leigh High School has welcomed four new teachers to its ranks, including Ms. Jayden Pokorney. Ms. Pokorney replaced Mr. Dan Schmidt in the science position, who retired at the end of last year.

Ms. Pokorney graduated from Leigh Community Schools in 2014, and earned a degree in Elementary Education, as well as K-6 Special Education at Wayne State College.

After graduating in 2018, Ms. Pokorney worked as a substitute teacher to gain some experience. She taught at Leigh, Clarkson, and Humphrey Public. This year, she will also coach high school girls’ golf.

In her free time, Ms. Pokorney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as working at the hog barns on the weekends.

“I am beyond excited for this school year. We have quite a few new teachers and students, as well as a brand-new building! I am so very glad to have this wonderful opportunity!” Ms. Pokorney said.

We wish Ms. Pokorney a great school year!
